PlayPosit

PlayPosit is an interactive web-based video platform. It allows you to embed quiz-type questions into videos from other video platforms like Youtube, Vimeo, and Khan Academy. Data can then be analyzed on the individual or group level for educational trends in the classroom.

  • PlayPosit Checklist: Here is a checklist customized for CUNY John Jay – it includes a sample bulb, various use cases, a link to PlayPosit Academy, office hours info, as well as steps to get someone started in PlayPosit. Feel free to share this with faculty as you work with them on getting started.

Using PlayPosit within Blackboard

Video Tutorials

The DOES Department has offered the following webinars to provide a closer look at how PlayPosit is being used at John Jay.

Join Belinda Rincon and Brian Tomlinson for a firsthand look at how PlayPosit can be used with students.

The webinar below titled “Broadcasting Synchronous Activities with PlayPosit” will not provide a general overview of the PlayPosit tool, rather, it will focus on the specific functionality within PlayPosit to allow you to synchronously broadcast questions to your students

If you’ve wanted to create a clicker-type environment or launch a real-time quiz within your Zoom sessions, you may want to consider using PlayPosit’s Broadcast feature. Emily Bleibel from PlayPosit will walk you through how to launch a quiz (with or without a video, which is the norm for PlayPosit) from Blackboard and push out questions to your students in real time. This could be used for traditional quizzing activities or to spark conversations around media or topics by taking polling to the next level. PlayPosit activities will be captured and faculty can then see how each student responds to the questions posed. This handout will reinforce the steps demonstrated in the webinar.
