1. Before starting teaching online
If you are designing, developing, and delivering an online/hybrid course at John Jay College, you are required to fulfill the John Jay requirements:
- Demonstrate successful completion of the Online Teaching Essentials: A Foundational Workshop for CUNY Faculty held by the School of Professional Studies or the Hybrid and Online Teaching (HOT) Workshop held by by DOES for which faculty receive a stipend from Academic Affairs.
- Self-enroll in the Blackboard Basics self-paced workshop . (Click on + Enroll in the menu.)
- Make sure you have a current John Jay email address.
- Make sure you can login into John Jay Blackboard & know the basics such as (Constructing course navigation, uploading syllabus and faculty information, creating folders and content items, creating discussion forums, tests and assignments, making the course available/unavailable. You are also encouraged to participate in ongoing professional development & Webinars offered by the DEPARTMENT OF ONLINE EDUCATION & SUPPORT (DOES) and the Teaching and Learning Center.
